What started as a dilapidated wooden framed house resulted in a beautifully renovated wooden framed office for a growing real estate firm and its brokers. Asked to renovate within the existing antique structure, the resourceful Karp Associates team adopted a creative approach to achieve this, lowering a mini-excavator down through the center of the building via crane to allow us to dig the foundation from the inside out. The client also wanted us to develop a two-floor office program with cubicle function, but with a desire for multiple agents to work in a space that did not have a cubicle feel. We achieved this aesthetic by installing interior paned windows to separate the works spaces. This had the added benefit of creating an aesthetically pleasing “hominess” to a firm engaged in the business of selling homes.
