Members of the Karp Team have been donating their time to help the Jewish Community Center of Stamford (JCC) to take a 35+ year-old run-down facility and prioritizing a schedule of design and capital improvements.
A pool revitalization was necessary as the pool deck was deteriorating at a rapid rate. The funds were very limited to repair the pool, but the Karp team came up with a design and plan to keep the budget in check but to reinvigorate the entire space. To lighten the lobby and draw less attention to the dated split faced block wall, we selected grey paint of a similar tone to the walls, and a 50% version of the same color for all the metal trim and doors. This created a soft, subtle background to the navy/grey carpet and wood that simulates LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile), floors finish. The LTV is used to break the carpet tiles for the Café’ and create a zone for gathering, eating and studying.
Karp has provided guidance, leadership, design and construction services for the JCC and the update will help promote the Jewish Values of welcoming guests, kindness, respect and communal responsibility where differences are respected, communities are built, creativity is encouraged, and aspirations are realized in exciting and powerful ways.
